For the last two years we’ve compiled an annual report outlining our core activities and naming everyone who supported our mission — directly and indirectly. The following is a copy of our opening letter.

Dear friends,
I recently had the chance to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum here in San Francisco. It’s an incredible place, and I recommend you visit if you have the chance. What I found most inspiring in the story of Disney’s career was the constant push to do something truly new and challenge the impossible. One of the best examples is the original EPCOT plan — a city designed to be a “living blueprint of the future.” Seeing this work again reminded me of the importance of bold visions and their role in building the future.
Everything starts with a vision. Bold and audacious ones help us imagine what could be and, in many cases, challenge us to aim higher. They serve as goals, or destinations, for us to climb towards; without them, we’d float aimlessly. Today, these visions are few and far between, and we need more.
However, they’re only part of the equation. We also need to see the real work being done today that shines a path between our present and our goals, and we need to see real ways that each of us can play a role.
If we have these three things — goals, pathways, and individual agency — we have hope for the future and can work to build it.
This year, we’ve adopted this framework to guide and measure our efforts, and it is something you’ll notice in everything we do, from our media to our experiences and ultimately to the design of the Fairgrounds.
Reflecting on this past year, I couldn’t be happier with our progress. When I wrote our first letter in 2022, the path forward was still quite hazy, and this was primarily a solitary endeavor.
We’ve come a long way since then.
In 2023, we established a solid operating orientation for the organization as a studio, initiated a few projects to ignite hope, hosted over 500 people at a preview of our first immersive experience, and have the early foundations of a world-class team.
With all that said, I’m excited to present our 2023 Annual Report to you. On behalf of the team, I’d like to thank all of you who made this year of accomplishment possible. We can’t wait to welcome you to one of our experiences or events, but more importantly, we can’t wait to reignite your sense of wonder and hope for our incredible future.
